Here’s something most homeowners don’t realize until they’re deep into a quote: the glass is a separate decision from the window frame. You can put excellent glass in a good frame, or settle for whatever ships standard. Knowing the difference is one of the easiest ways to get a better-performing window.

The Frame and the Glass Are Two Separate Choices

The brand on your window (Simonton, Pella, Potomac, etc.) is the frame and system. The glass package inside it is its own specification, and it’s where much of your comfort, energy efficiency, and even code compliance actually comes from.

Cardinal LoĒ Glass: The One to Know

Cardinal makes what’s widely regarded as the clearest residential glass in North America, and it’s the glass behind many of the brands we install. Two packages cover almost everything we do in St. Pete:

• LoĒ-366, our go-to for roughly 95% of homes. It blocks heat and UV so well that fading becomes a non-issue for the vast majority of homeowners while keeping the view bright and clear.
• LoĒ-340 (“Turtle Glass”), a darker package for beachfront homes, is designed to meet sea turtle lighting codes along the coast.
